Da Nang Airport to Hoi An by Private Car: Transfer Guide and Travel Tips

Most visitors to Hoi An arrive through Da Nang International Airport. The Ancient Town is only about 30 km away – around 45 minutes by car – but taxis at the airport can be a scramble after a long flight, especially with family and luggage. Here's how the transfer works, how to get the most out of Hoi An, and what to know about the weather.
Da Nang Airport to Hoi An: your options
Private car with driver: your driver tracks your flight, meets you at arrivals with a name sign and takes you straight to your hotel or homestay, even down the small lanes near the Old Town. The easiest option with children, luggage or a late arrival.
Taxi or ride-hailing: fine for light travellers, but queues can be long when several flights land together, and larger groups may need two cars.
Shuttle bus: cheaper, but runs to set times and stops at several hotels on the way.
Staying at a beach resort on the road between Da Nang and Hoi An? It's often only 20–30 minutes from the airport, and your driver can drop you there directly.
Making the most of Hoi An
Ancient Town: the old merchant port is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with shophouses, assembly halls and the Japanese Covered Bridge. A combined ticket gives entry to a set number of historic houses and museums; check the current price at the ticket booths.
Evening lanterns: the riverside glows after dark, and you can release a paper lantern from a small boat on the Thu Bon River. Monthly full-moon nights are especially atmospheric.
Tailors and food: Hoi An is famous for made-to-measure clothes, plus local dishes like cao lầu noodles, white rose dumplings and bánh mì.
Beaches: An Bang and Cua Dai are a short drive from the Old Town.

Weather note: the rainy season
Central Vietnam's rainy season runs from roughly October to January. After heavy storms, the streets nearest the river in the Ancient Town can flood for a day or two. If you're travelling in these months, keep your plans a little flexible: we can adjust pickup points and timing, and your driver will check road conditions before setting off.
